Over $1 Billion+
recovered on behalf of our clients.

Bicycle Accident Lawyers Group represents injured bicyclists throughout the Las Vegas Valley, including Henderson, North Las Vegas, NV, Summerlin, and greater Clark County. Our law firm has recovered over $1 billion for accident injury victims nationwide and handles bicycle, e-bike, and e-scooter cases exclusively as a core practice area.

Why Choose Our Las Vegas Bicycle Accident Attorneys

Clark County consistently ranks among the most dangerous metro areas for bicyclists. Las Vegas Boulevard, Flamingo Road, Tropicana Avenue, and the feeder roads between casino corridors see the majority of serious bike accidents in the city. Heavy tourist traffic, rideshare vehicles, and motorists unfamiliar with local roads put bicyclists at constant risk.

Bicycle accidents on these roads leave riders with brain trauma, spinal damage, fractures, and severe road rash. While you are getting treatment, the at-fault insurance company is already looking for ways to reduce what they owe. Our experienced Las Vegas bicycle accident lawyers recognize their tactics and counter them.

Common Causes of Bicycle Accidents in Las Vegas

Insurance adjusters will look for any reason to shift blame onto you. Our bicycle accident attorneys investigate every event thoroughly, because the cause of your collision determines who pays, how much you can receive compensation for, and how we build your case.

  • Negligent driving. Drivers who ignore traffic rules, signals, and signs are among the most popular reasons why bicyclists get hurt in the city.
  • Dooring accidents. A suddenly opened vehicle door can cause serious damage to an unsuspecting bike rider. There’s nothing that a skilled dooring accident lawyer wouldn’t help to recover, though.
  • Impaired driving. People driving under the influence are reckless and inattentive, often quite aggressive. The mixture of these conditions can have some of the direst consequences.
  • Road rage. There are motor vehicle drivers who refuse to accept the obligation of sharing the road with other, more vulnerable users. Inappropriate gestures, vile language, or straight-off tailgating can unbalance a cyclist and lead to a serious crash.
  • Distracted driving. Even a momentary lapse of attention to check the incoming call or chat with a passenger creates a dangerous driving situation with potential bicyclist casualties.
  • Hit-and-run incidents. Hit-and-run accidents make up almost 13% of all fatalities in Las Vegas. Not all of them involve bike riders, but we can’t discard a possibility.

Bicycle Accident Injuries We Help Recover Compensation For

A bicyclist hit by a vehicle weighing several thousand pounds has virtually no protection. The injuries start severe, and the medical expenses follow immediately. Insurance companies push early settlement offers before you know the full extent of your condition. You are entitled to fair compensation for every injury, every medical bill, and every dollar of lost wages.

  • Head injuries. When a cyclist falls off their bike, they may hit their heads hard on the concrete or any other solid surface. The fall can become a source of such serious traumas as traumatic brain injuries, broken skulls, concussions, and other conditions.
  • Fractures. Broken bones are another typical result of being thrown off the bicycle with the full force of the vehicle. Some fractures are extremely complex and require bone reconstruction and lengthy rehabilitation.
  • Back injuries. Many bicyclists hit their backs hard during the crash. Lack of protection leaves the person susceptible to different spinal cord injuries, the severest of which may even result in paralysis.
  • Facial injuries. Another typical result from a collision with the ground, especially if falling headfirst, would be dental traumas. On top of that, cyclists may sustain all sorts of soft tissue injuries, which leave scars and, in some cases, disfigurement.
  • Psychological trauma. Not everyone is able to brush off the situation easily. Some bicycle accident victims have serious mental conditions, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression.

Nevada Bicycle Laws That Protect You

If you were partially at fault, you can still receive compensation. Nevada follows a modified comparative negligence rule (NRS 41.141). As long as your share of fault does not exceed 50%, you can pursue economic damages and other damages, reduced by your percentage of responsibility.

In Nevada, if you are found 51% or more at fault, you recover nothing. That is why insurance companies fight so hard to inflate your share of blame, and why having an experienced bicycle accident attorney matters.

Insurers rely on three common arguments against bicyclists: you were not wearing a helmet, you were riding at night, or you were taking the lane. Nevada traffic laws address all three.

  • NRS 484B.763. Bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as any motor vehicle operator on Nevada roadways.
  • No statewide adult helmet law. Nevada does not require adult bicyclists to wear helmets. The absence of a helmet cannot bar your recovery or establish fault.
  • Right-side riding with exceptions. Bicycles must ride as close to the right side as safely practicable (NRS 484B.777), but can legally occupy the full lane when avoiding hazards or when the lane is too narrow to share.
  • Three-foot passing law. Motorists must maintain at least three feet of clearance when passing a bicyclist (NRS 484B.270). Violating this rule is negligent per se.

When an adjuster raises any of these arguments, we respond with the statute, evidence from the accident scene, and case law to shut it down.

Filing Deadlines for a Las Vegas Bicycle Accident

Nevada gives you two years from the date of the accident to file a personal injury lawsuit (NRS 11.190(4)(e)). Miss that deadline and the court will almost certainly dismiss your case.

  1. Personal injury: 2 years from the accident.
  2. Wrongful death: 2 years from the date of death.
  3. Minor child: The statute of limitations is tolled until the child turns 18 (NRS 11.250).
  4. Government action: File a Notice with the governing body within 2 years (NRS 41.036).

This deadline is especially important when your accident involves road defects, missing signage, poorly maintained bike lanes, or hazardous conditions on roads managed by the City of Las Vegas, Clark County, Henderson, or NDOT.

E-Bike Bicycle Laws in Nevada

Nevada classifies e-bikes into three classes under NRS 484B.017. Class 1 is pedal-assist only (motor stops at 20 mph). Class 2 is throttle-equipped (motor stops at 20 mph). Class 3 is pedal-assist only (motor stops at 28 mph). All three must have fully operable pedals and a motor producing no more than 750 watts.

Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes can generally use bicycle lanes and multi-use paths. Class 3 e-bikes may face restrictions depending on local rules. If an e-bike exceeds these thresholds, Nevada law may reclassify it as a moped with different registration and insurance requirements.

Our law firm handles all e-bike and e-scooter collisions, as well as pedestrian accident cases. Like car accidents and motorcycle collisions, e-bike accidents require a lawyer who understands the specific rules.

Who Is Liable for a Bicycle Accident in Las Vegas?

The person who hit you is rarely the only party responsible. In most cycling collisions we handle, there are multiple defendants, which means multiple insurance policies and a higher potential recovery for our clients.

  • The at-fault party. Their auto liability policy is the first source of compensation. Nevada’s minimum coverage is $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident.
  • Their employer. If the at-fault party was working at the time, their employer’s commercial policy may apply with limits of $1 million or more.
  • The City of Las Vegas, Clark County, Henderson, or NDOT. When the government fails to maintain safe road conditions, we hold them liable.
  • Construction contractors. Roadwork that narrows lanes or creates uneven pavement without signage. Both the contractor and the government entity can be defendants.
  • Bicycle and vehicle manufacturers. If a product defect caused or worsened your accident, the manufacturer is liable under strict product liability.
  • Property owners. If your bicycle accident occurred near private property where unsafe conditions contributed, the property owner may share liability.

We investigate every accident to identify every responsible party and available policy. More defendants means more leverage and a stronger position at trial in Clark County District Court.

How We Prove Negligence in a Bicycle Accident Case

The party who hit you, or their insurance company, owes you for every dollar of losses they caused. Proving that requires four elements.

  1. Duty of care. Every person on the road owes a legal duty to watch for bicyclists, yield at intersections, and maintain safe passing distance.
  2. Breach. A person who texts behind the wheel, runs a red light, opens a car door into a bicyclist’s path, or passes with less than three feet of clearance has breached that duty. We prove it using police reports, traffic camera footage, dashcam video, and cellphone records.
  3. Causation. We connect the breach directly to your injuries using medical records, accident reconstruction, and expert testimony.
  4. Damages. We document every loss from the day of the accident: emergency room and hospital bills, surgery, physical therapy, future medical care, lost wages, reduced earning capacity, medical expenses for ongoing treatment, bicycle replacement costs, and pain and suffering.

What to Do After a Bicycle Accident in Las Vegas

Your case starts at the accident scene. The steps you take in the first hours directly affect the result and your ability to seek compensation.

  • Step 1: Call 911

Move to safety if you can. Make sure law enforcement responds. Nevada requires reporting any accident involving an injury.

  • Step 2: Seek Medical Attention

Go to the emergency room even if you feel fine. Concussions, internal bleeding, and hairline fractures often take hours to produce symptoms. Without records from that first visit, the insurance company will argue your severe injuries were pre-existing.

  • Step 3: Document the Accident Scene

Photograph your injuries, the vehicle that hit you, your damaged bicycles, the road surface, and any hazards. Record contact information and license plate details.

  • Step 4: Call Us Before You Talk to the Insurer

The at-fault party’s insurance company will request a recorded statement designed to limit what you recover. Do not give one. Decline any early settlement offer, stay off social media, and call 888-521-6377.

When Should You Contact a Bicycle Accident Lawyer?

If any of the following apply to your situation, consulting with a bicycle accident attorney early strengthens your case.

  • Your injuries are serious or your losses are substantial. Surgery, hospitalization, broken bones, or spinal cord injuries all increase the value of your case.
  • The insurance company is delaying or disputing your case. Low settlement offers or arguments that you caused the accident are signs the insurer is not acting in good faith.
  • Your case involves complex liability. Bike accidents caused by road hazards, construction zones, or multiple at-fault parties require an attorney who can trace liability through multiple policies.
  • You were hit by an uninsured or unidentified person. In hit-and-run cases or collisions with uninsured motorists, UM/UIM coverage through your own policy may be the only path to compensation. An experienced Las Vegas bicycle accident lawyer can identify which policies apply.

How Your Case Works

  1. No-cost case review. Call 888-521-6377 or fill out the contact form. A bicycle accident lawyer calls you back the same day.
  2. Contingency agreement. No money out of pocket. We get paid only when we recover compensation for you.
  3. Investigation. We reconstruct the collision using accident scene photos, surveillance footage, witness statements, and medical records.
  4. Demand and negotiation. We build the demand package around documented evidence. Every dollar of your medical expenses and losses is supported.
  5. Trial if necessary. If the insurance company refuses to pay fair value, we file a lawsuit in Clark County District Court. Our personal injury lawyers have tried cycling accident cases across Nevada and know how to present bicycle accident claims to a jury.

You speak directly with your bicycle accident attorney throughout the entire process, not a paralegal, not an intake coordinator.
